Elijah House Foundation Back 2 Work Program

Elijah House Foundation (EHF) is a proud partner of the Back 2 Work Program. We provide transitional employment through litter abatement services for the Department of Transportation (Caltrans).
This program is a partnership between Caltrans, the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR), the Butte County Office of Education (BCOE), San Bernardino Community College District (SBCCD), and the City of Oakland Golden State Works (GSW).
In addition to transitional employment, our program is also designed to reduce recidivism using evidence-based methods and best practices to guide participants through relearning habits that make great employees starting with the basics of communication and computer literacy.

Elijah House Foundation has successfully operated Back 2 Work crews since 2019, and recently expanded the number of crews in 2022. Back 2 Work crews consist of 6 to 8 local crewmembers, driver, a transport van and one DOT-certified utility trailer.
Elijah House Foundation recruiting partners include sober housing programs, veterans services, CA Department of Rehab, Dax-It, tribal agencies and local AA/NA groups.
If you see our Back 2 Work crews in your communities, let them know how much you appreciate the work they are doing to keep our communities safe and clean.
Elijah House Foundation (EHF) has Back 2 Work crews in the following counties:
- Butte
- Contra Costa

“I was released from jail on July 17, 2020, and I had nowhere to go and no clue what I was going to do. I wound up going to the Elijah House looking for a place to stay. That is when I found out about the Back 2 Work program that help change my life around and get it back on the right track. For someone who made a couple bad choices and found myself having to rebuild my life, the program was a life savior. The help and encouragement I’ve received will never be forgotten. I’ve received training that will help me in the future at any job. I’m so grateful.”
